Why Board and Breakfast?

We do the training repetitions for you!

This is perfect for our dog owners who lead busier lives.

Your dog is immersed in a new environment and is less likely to fall back into old habits.

They receive hours of active training as well as passive training throughout their entire stay.

They participate in plenty of indoor and outdoor activities like hikes and playtime.

You get text, picture and video updates along the way.

The follow up lessons and advice ensure you know how to maintain the training.

COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS

GENERAL QUESTIONS

1. Is there a minimum age requirement?

There is no age limit for private lessons. We train anywhere from puppies to seniors. Board and train dogs should be around 6 month old. Puppy boarding is 8 to 16 weeks old.

2. What are the benefits of training?

It's important for a dog to have structure, consistency, and rules, just like children. You typically see higher rates of anxiety, depression, reactivity, self-harm and destructive behaviors in dogs that lack training and discipline. Dogs thrive in families with clear leadership. When you have been established as the leader, your dog will want more engagement with you, and you will have more control.

3. What are the vaccination/medical requirements?

We require rabies, distemper, and parvovirus. We also ask that dogs are up to date on all deworming and flea/tick treatments. We need current vaccine records sent to us before training  can start. We will gladly postpone a start date if needed to get your dog up to speed. Puppy boarding must have at least distemper and parvo completed.

4. Do you have any breed restrictions?

No! We welcome dogs of all breeds, ages, sizes, and levels.

5. Do you accept aggressive/reactive dogs?

We accept mildly reactive dogs; dogs that bark, pull, lung or jump at people or other dogs on or off leash. We do not accept dogs with a history of biting people.

6. How would you best describe the training method?

Personalized. Our programs are tailored to meet the needs of both you and your dog. We understand that not every dog will react the same to certain methods, and no two dogs will have the same requirements. Our combination of traditional and modern styles results in a balanced approach designed to tackle an array of issues for different dogs.

7. What methods of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, personal checks, credit/debit cards, Apple Pay, and payments through Venmo or Paypal. There is either a $300, $500, or $700 non-refundable deposit for Board and Breakfast™ clients due when the contract is signed. The remaining balance is due on or before the dog's pickup day. Payment for Private Workshop clients is due in full when the contract is signed. Payment plans are available.

8. I'm interested in private lessons, but I'm not sure which program to choose. How can I gauge how long training will take?

Length of training depends on the dog, the home environment, and your goals. Our trainer will be able to give you a good idea of what program is most appropriate for your dog during your consultation. Consistency in training and willingness to uphold new standards are key in fast and efficient training.  We'll work at you and your dog's pace and can add on as many lessons as needed to accomplish what needs to be accomplished.

9. Do you offer a shuttle service?

Yes! Shuttle service is $8 per 15 miles from us to you! All board and train programs come with a complimentary take home shuttle.

10. Are you certified by the Department of Agriculture through the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA)?

Yes, absolutely. We have a pet handler license, and our home is a certified board and train facility.

BOARD AND TRAIN QUESTIONS

1. How many board and train dogs do you take?

No more than 2 at a time. Our ratio is 1:1 - 1 dog per trainer. We are family-owned and operate out of our house, allowing us to focus on real issues that happen in a home setting. We limit the number of dogs we take so that we can focus our time and attention on your dog.

2. Will my dog get time to play?

Of course! When not training, all friendly social dogs have access to our indoor play room, as well as our secured outdoor play and relief area. Even our not-so-social guests will have the same access, just at different times. All free time is supervised.

3. Where will my dog sleep?

For their safety and the safety of others, your dog will sleep in a crate.

4. Something came up, and I can't pick my dog up on our scheduled date. Can I pick them up the next day?

Yes! You can add additional boarding days for $50.

5. Can I add more training days to my board and train program?

Sure! You can add additional board and train days for the daily rate of $215

6. What if I still need help after completing a board and train program?

Because our 3 week program is more intensive, we offer unlimited follow up lessons for a year to ensure retention. Our 1 week program includes 3 follow up lessons and our 2 week program includes 5. All programs offer endless remote support after completion. We feel most issues can be resolved remotely. If you did a 1 or 2 week program and we cannot resolve an issue remotely, you can always add private lessons as needed.

7. Will I get updates about my dog?

We will send you text, picture and video updates throughout their entire stay.

8. What is your cleaning and sanitation process like?

Safety and cleanliness are our top priorities. We follow strict sanitation guidelines put forth by the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act through the Department of Agriculture.
